The KNS 710A temperature sensor is designed to measure the temperature of the outside air. In the application segment of railway vehicles, it is used for example to measure the air temperature in locomotive engine rooms, it can be part of the temperature control system in passenger compartments or is used for indicate the temperature in the engine room as part of the fire protection system.

The temperature sensor consists of a plastic head, where a converter from the resistance signal of the temperature sensor to the voltage signal of 0 to 10 V and a metal rod are placed. All metal parts are made of class 17240 stainless steel (corresponds to DIN 1.4301). The length of the rod is 50 mm. The power cable is connected to the terminal block via a grommet, which is part of the plastic head. The base material of the head is LEXAN. The sensor can be used for all control systems compatible with the output signal from 0 to 10 V. Standard temperature ranges are shown in the technical parameters table, while the maximum temperature around the sensor head is 80 ° C and must not be exceeded even for a short time. The sensor conforms to the degree of protection IP 65 according to standard EN 60529, as amended.

The sensor is designed to operate in a chemically non-aggressive environment.
