The KNS 510A temperature sensor is designed to measure the temperature of the outside air. In the application segment of railway vehicles, it is used for example to measure the air temperature in locomotive engine rooms, it can be part of the temperature control system in passenger compartments or is used for indicate the temperature in the engine room as part of the fire protection system.
The temperature sensor consists of a plastic head, where a converter of the resistance signal of the temperature sensor into a current signal of 4 to 20 mA and a metal rod are placed. All metal parts are made of DIN 1.4301 stainless steel. The length of the rod is 50 mm. The input cable is connected to the terminal block via a grommet, which is part of the connection head. The base material of the head is LEXAN. The sensor can be used for any control system compatible with the 4 to 20 mA output signal. The standard temperature ranges are shown in the technical parameters table, while the maximum temperature around the connection head is 80 ° C and should not be exceeded even for a short time.
