Connection heads are typically used in industrial environments to help protect the probe from harsh operating conditions. We offer protective heads in stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized cast iron and plastic. The head is coupled to a thermocouple or RTD probe which generally includes a threaded connection (fixed or spring-loaded) as well as a termination block for connecting the wires. A ceramic or metal thermowell can also be used to provide greater protection for the assembly.
Thermocouples or RTD consist of two, three or four different metal wires connected by one or more solder; when the temperature changes, a signal in millivolts or a change in resistance is generated.
